Library & Archives Canada

LAC Foundation Campaign

About the campaign

In 2025, we embarked on our most ambitious campaign yet: $10 million to fuel LAC’s bold plans to build a future-facing national library and archives that inspire learning, spark discovery, and connect people.

The campaign offers exclusive donor recognition opportunities in LAC’s flagship new building and across its signature programs, including:

World-Class Spaces & Experiences

Signature Ādisōke spaces and innovative visitor experiences will share our heritage with more people

Preserving Canada’s Documentary Heritage

Rare and important acquisitions will continue to grow Canada’s rich collections of documentary heritage.

Expanded Access and Outreach

Increasing LAC’s digital reach and public engagement will ensure access for all, in Canada and beyond.

Innovative Residencies and Research

Artistic residencies and research fellowships will result in new and inspiring interpretations of Canada’s heritage.

“We are delighted to serve as Honorary Chairs for Library and Archives Canada Foundation’s national fundraising campaign. As authors ourselves, we know the importance of preserving and promoting Canada’s stories. With the generous support of donors from across Canada, LAC will continue to be a leader in collecting, preserving and sharing Canada’s documentary heritage.”

Led By Canadian Visionaries

The LAC Foundation is honoured that The Right Honourable David Johnston and Mrs. Sharon Johnston have agreed to serve as Honorary Chairs for the Campaign. In addition to their decades of public service, notably during his time as Canada’s 28th Governor General, both of the Johnstons are authors who believe passionately in the importance of preserving and telling Canadian stories.
